I got this in the bundle and picked it out mostly at random to play. I finished it the same day, and loved every second of it. I can't wait for the final chapter, thank you so much for the game!

(+2)

Thank you so much! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it!

(+3)

I'd seen this game around before, but never had the opportunity to pick it up until I saw it pop up again in the bundle!! Despite not knowing too much about it when I first saw it, the artstyle & the pixel sprites really drew me in!I think this game is really pretty to look at & I've really enjoyed seeing all the new places. As well as that, I like the characters a lot & I'm invested in the story to see where it goes!! I really like Adair haha & I'm really excited for the final chapter!!

My only criticism is I think it would be nice an option to make dialogue load faster, or to be able to press a button to have the full sentence out would be nice! I read really fast & I find myself waiting at the end longer dialogues, or when I accidentally click on a person three times in a row instead of opening up the menu. Using V to speed up dialogue is useful, but then I end up holding too long & skipping to the next dialogue bubble. Overall that's a pretty minor thing though!!

Anyway eagerly looking forwards to the final update!! Really glad I got the opportunity to play this through the bundle :)

(+2)

Thanks for playing it and for your kind words! Adair seems to be really popular, which makes me glad because I thought people would think he's a jerk at first, haha.

I totally agree about having a way to make dialogues appear faster. We have a faster one for our own tests, but sometimes it bugs a little, so that's why we haven't made that available for players yet. We'll look into, I think having the whole sentence appear at once by pressing a button would be a good option!

(+3)

I just finished the current game. I must say that I absolutely love the story and the art style! However, I kinda wish The Core was developed a bit more at the start of the game. Also, about the dialogue and conversations in game – I kinda wish that some of the dialogue could be sped up/skippable because I found myself continuously pressing on X and accidentally choosing the wrong option when it came to making choices T^T I also feels like there should an easier way to compare stats between equipment? Something like a little stats info bar on the side when you go over equipment would be nice.

Nevertheless, the game looks great right now and I can't wait for the final release! I love all the characters introduced and how you can interact with the animals in-game. Thank you for the wonderful experience so far!! :D

(+2)

Thank you so much for your feedback, and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! You can advance through dialogue faster by keeping V pressed down, but we'll still look for a way to make it even faster because it's no fun if you have to see the same dialogue for a second time.

Regarding The Core, it's intentionally vague but there's a lot more info about it as the game progresses, especially in the final chapter!

(+2)

just finished the current game so far. i love it, the writing and the characters are really well done. so excited for the full game, i know you put a lot of work into the game

(+1)

Thank you so much, I'm really happy to read that ♥!

Recently purchased BLM game bundle.  Played Long Gone Days.   Enjoyed it.  Decent character development, tried to teach morals, mixture of battle scenes and fetch it quests.  Thanks.

(+1)

Hey, I got a little question. Since this is one of my first purchases on Itch.io: If I got the game because of the Justice-Bundle, did I still get the full version? I think I binged the game since yesterday and just couldn't stop playing! The Cliffhanger at the end of Chapter 3 is feeling like torture! XD

(Sorry, English isn't my first language, but I hope I got my Point across to you :) )

(+3)

Hi there! Everyone who got the game from the bundle will have access to the full game and every upcoming update.

We are working on the last chapter right now so we hope the wait isn't thaaaaat long 🙌!

(+4)

just finished all of what's currently available and god, this game is phenomenal. i love every character & feel for their experiences. the gameplay is fun, the quests are engaging, the story is well-written--i'm so, so impressed. thank you so much for making such a wonderful game!! i'm desperately excited for the final chapter. :)

(+1)

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a nice comment 💖! We can't wait to release the full game!

(+3)

just finished the first chapter & i've gotta say, this has to be one of the best plays i've had in awhile! its story and wordbuilding is so immersive, the art style is gorgeous, and it's just.. wow, everything about this game is great! how phenomenal-- i love all the characters, too! great work!

(+1)

Thank yoooooou, we're really glad to hear you enjoyed it so much 🙌!

(+7)

It feels weird to go through a library of thousands of games i, somehow, "own" now

But this one caught my attention immediatly., wich is already saying something, I'm in, i hope i enjoy it.

(+4)

I say the same, before purchasing the bundle i checked what i would get, i saw this one and it was an instant buy.

(+3)

I actually wanted to buy Long Gone Days loooong before lol, saw it in the bundle and went "Okay, I gotta buy the bundle now"

(+2)

This is a fantastic game! It's tense and interesting,  the little pixel sprites are adorable and the art is beautiful. I'm beyond excited for the last chapter!

Thank you so much, it's nice to read that ♥!

I'm getting this error on my Mac, any suggestions?

(+1)

Hi there! Are you by any chance a MacOS Catalina user? We posted a fix here: https://laburatory.itch.io/lgd/devlog/153218/for-macos-catalina-users (it should also work for any other games you are having trouble running!)

(+2)

Thank you so much, I'll try this fix right away!

(1 edit) (+3)

I love this game - both the story and the art style are beautiful, and I love Rourke and Adair being kinda clueless about the outside world.

(+3)

Aww, thank you! I'm really glad to hear you liked the art and the characters and I swear one day I'll finally write a dating-sim, haha.

(+5)

I LOVE THE ART STYLE!! Look so clean and beautiful!!

Thank you, I'm glad you like it!

Hola, Camila.

Saludos!

Is it possible to rebind the controls to something like WASD for movement and IJKL for actions? If not, will it be in the full game?

Unfortunately there's currently no native way to rebind the keys, but it's something we have considered! We haven't tested external key rebinders so I can't recommend that. As an alternative, though I know this isn't a real solution, you can also play using Xbox or PS4 controllers, or you can play using the arrow keys instead of WASD. I hope that helps a bit!

(+1)

Thank you for the reply.

(+3)

Love the game a lot! Thanks for the good work!

(+1)

Thank yoooou!

(+5)

love the game so far especially the artwork Can't wait for a full finish game of this one,Keep up the good work guys!

(+2)

Thank you so much!

(+3)

I love this game so far. Great job! I was introduced to this game through the bundle so I hope the team that made this game really gets their dues!

(+3)

We're glad you are enjoying the game, and thank you so much for your kind words! The fact that so many people are donating to the bundle is rewarding enough for us ♥

(+15)

Very fun, I love the sprite-work! I feel a bit bad having obtained it from the bundle, haha.

(+24)

Don't feel bad about it! We're glad you donated to the bundle AND are enjoying the games included 💖

(+1)

awesome

Hi!

As i looked up the game over on Steam it seems there was an update for Long Gone Days on May 2020. But here the itchi.io version to download it says "Sep 22, 2019". So my question is: Is the itchi.io Version up-to date? And if not how long will it take to get the itchi.io version up-to-date? As i read in the comments you don't get a Steam-key anymore if you buy the game here, so the only version i can play is the one i bought here. Thanks for the answer and all the hard work!

(+7)

Hi there! The latest version available is version 0.6.4, which is the one currently available here and on Steam. That update we posted some weeks ago on Steam is a progress report, not a content update. We apologize for the confusion.

In any case, any new content updates will be released simultaneously across all platforms!

(+1)

Thanks for the answer, that help!

(+1)

When's full release?

(+15)

We haven't announced it yet, but we are working on the very last chapter of the game at the moment.

(+1)

Do I need a steam key to play this or was that instruction for purchasers from steam? Was a little confused there.

(+3)

Hi there! Yes, those instructions are generic, but you don't need a Steam Key to play it. If you got the game through the Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality, you can access the DRM-free version of the game. Unfortunately, Steam Keys were removed to avoid key resellers :(

(+1)

Understandable! Will the game have achievements to unlock? (Had to ask since I wonder if those are exclusively for steam other than the key itself)

(+1)

We plan to add achievements in the future, but I think these will be exclusive to Steam, unless there's a similar feature on itchio.

(+2)

Oh no, you're gonna make a completionist out of me XD Thank you for your quick response!

(+3)

Hello, I love this game and, as a fan, I always make shipps also. There's any possibility that you guys can or will develop a possible romance in the game?? (Pls, I shipp Rourke and Lynn a lot) (also I'm still finishing chapter 2 ) thank you guys for this amazing game

(+14)

Hi there! We're glad to hear that you are enjoying it! Unfortunately, there won't be any romance in the game because Rourke wasn't written as someone interested in romantic relationships and stuff that will be revealed later in the game. What you can do is build platonic friendships with your teammates, learn to trust each other, cheer them up, listen to their backstories, etc.
Have a great day!

(+2)

Thanks ^-^

Te pasaste Cami, muy talentosa, de verdad admiro mucho tu trabajo, y lo digo porque también soy desarrollador Indie en mi tiempo libre. Muy buen juego!

(1 edit)

hi there, the game looks really good from the images and trailer but i tried to play the demo for mac os and i get an error message

(1 edit)

Hi there! I'm not completely sure what might be the problem, but unfortunately the prototype demo from 2016 is no longer being updated. The current version of the game was rebuilt from scratch on a different engine, so we haven't touched the old one in years :(

I apologize for the inconvenience.

(+2)(-2)

Very great game! I especially enjoyed the story so far.

The only thing I really disliked about it is the horrible stiffness of some of the character animations.
The standing pose for the characters (especially up and down) are way too symmetrical and uninteresting to look at.
Moreover they are not versatile enough. While they do fine in scenes like meetings where characters are expected to stand straight, they look horrible in action oriented scenes and completely undermine the tension. Something a tad more dynamic and less symmetrical would work much better, I believe. The 'standing sideways' template is much better for instance.
The walking animation also suffers from the same problems. Who walks with such a straight back and a stiff head? The fact that you have to look at this animation for such a great part of the game and that every single character uses it makes things even worse.

Finally, I think that you are not using the right animations in some places.
This thing in Rourke's room is clearly a ladder and not stairs and yet for some reason you are not using your ladder climbing animation. Why??
Similarly why are you using the characters' walking animation for sprinting? The characters' speed per frame when sprinting and the walking animation clearly don't match each other.
You have a running animation already, so why aren't you using it there?
(Sure, you might need to do some recoloring to make the ladder climbing animation for Rourke's first (darker) uniform and you might need to make the 'up' and 'down' version of the running animation cause I'm not sure you have those already but still it seems pretty doable)

These flaws are especially surprising because the game's art is very good and detailled. You have some foot taping animations for npcs, surveillance camera rotating animations, water animation and reflections, very nice and clever shadow effects in the opening, some very cool character animations with your two heroes jumping over the bridge and Adair getting up after loosing consciousness in the water... And yet you use some awfully stiff and uninteresting character animation templates. Why???

I know you won't be able to change these animations even if you want to (you'd have to redo way too many sprites) so I'm just left a tad disappointed and wondering how this could happen.

(I am using that gameplay video as an easy way to illustrate my points but obviously I have actually played the game)

(+4)

Hi there! First of all, I want to thank you for your feedback, and I do agree that there will always be plenty of room for improvement.

While this is not an excuse, I do have to point out we are a 3 person team and I'm the only artist (all of the portraits, sprites, maps, animations, UI, etc, were made by me, and I'm also the co-writer, code the events of the game, and the one  in charge of social media+business), so we really have to prioritize what we do.

As an example, a walking cycle (from scratch, not a recolor) from all 4 directions can take me a full day of work, same case with other complex animations. I'd love to add small idle animations for every character and NPC, or redo a lot of things, since we've been working on it for such a long time and our skills keep improving. There are things we will improve from the already released chapters, but some of them might happen post release.

I hope this clears some doubts! Trust me, most indie developers want their game to look (or be) as good as possible.

(+1)

Very Amazing game never played a game good like this in a long time good luck in the developing!

Thank you so much! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it!

Hi there! I know you didn't do this on purpose, but please be careful about spoiling others. In our Discord we have a channel to discuss stuff about chapters 2 and 3: https://discord.gg/LongGoneDays

(+1)

Sorry, I just to curios about her condition and story though. I will head to the discord and delete this post immediately.

(+2)

I love the mix of visual novel  mechanics and all the exploration moments.

Hello, I just finished the game so far,  and loved it ! However, I don't know if this is a bug, but when  I use the keys in appartment 301 in the "Lost Key" quest, it doesn't give me the"quest completed" notification.

Also I couldn't find how to start the "Password Protected" sidequest in Kiel, a little hint is welcome.

In any case , you and your team did a great job on this game !

Keep up the the good work!

(+1)

Thank you so much! The "Password Protected" sidequest is only available inside the first dungeon of chapter 2.

I'll take a look at that bug you mentioned about the "Lost Key" sidequest, because that definitely sounds like a bug. The quest completed notification usually pops up as soon as you open the door (which means it could be misseable since it shows up during the transition). Inside the pause menu, does that quest show it's 100% completed?

In any case, thank you so much for taking the time to report it! Hope you have a great day!

(1 edit) (+1)

Hello ! Thank you for your answer !

Nope, in the "lost key" sidequest, I am still at 66%, and I have the AC 99 upgrade document.

Have a nice day !

(+2)

I'm sure you get tons of emails and questions but I'm not sure if you've answered this elsewhere and I'm at work not being able to do a thorough search for a possible answer for the question elsewhere so here goes, are there any plans to port this over to console? Also, if no, is it difficult in the Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo communication side of things or would it be a programming issue where it would take too long to rewire things for console code?... Please let me know because I hardly play on PC and I'm a huge Sony fan (Nintendo as well) and would love to get this game on those consoles. As for now I might just get it on PC but I know damn well I wouldn't be giving it the love it deserves simply because of the fact that I rarely use my PC... Thank you in advance and OMG this game looks so dope <3 I'm getting Gundam vibes tbh but where are the mobile suits? ahaha! Much love <3

Thanks for your kind words! We would love to release the game on a console, but we can't while it is on early access. We definitely want to look into doing a Switch port, and maybe other consoles, but we won't be able to confirm it until we are 100% sure we can make it (we are based in Chile, so there might be some barriers).

For now, we've been making sure our build is compatible, so the port itself shouldn't be that troublesome. We'll still try our best, we would love to see our game on consoles ♥!

(+1)

Thanks for your continued hard work and I'm sure you guys will be making that a reality. I can truly see this on console and I'm not just saying that. Much love <3

(+2)

Game looks great.

If i may ask , are there any plans for a linux version by any chance ?

We do have a linux version planned, but it will probably come after our full release since our game is still in development and unfortunately we don't have too many Linux testers to make sure it is working as intended.

(1 edit) (+2)

One of the most beautiful games I've ever seen.
You really knew how to use Rpg Maker without seeming to be.
I loved the style of the gameplay.
The graphic style was too beautiful.

(+3)

Shoot man, looks good. Everything I would expect in a Gundam TV series, but without the Gundams.  You really know how to pull of the warstory. I can tell. Wow.

Thanks a lot! I'll admit I have only watched Gundam Wing (and it was one of the first series I ever obsessed with, haha) but most of my favorite series feature mechas, they tend to have an interesting take on war and how it affects the civilians and the soldiers alike.

Tried Gurren Lagann? :)

(-24)

can you make the game......Free? please

(+10)(-1)

Do you like to give your labor away for free? I sure hope not.

(+15)

Hi there! If money wasn't an issue I'd make them for free, but the development itself is being funded with the sales. We hope you understand.

(+6)

It was a nice change to see such a polite response these days on the internet so I wanna thank you for that. By the way the 2D art in this game looks incredible, I specially like the shading, really nice work.

(+1)(-2)

lol... how sad that there are people that ask this garbage. pfft.

(+2)

This game looks fantastic and I cannot wait to see it fully released!

Aww, thank you so much!

(+2)

Hello, Any news ? (even a simple "we're working on it" is enough, really, there is too many projects who are going from silence to canceled )

(+1)

Ooh, sorry, for some reason I don't get notifications on itchio, but we are still working on it! At the beginning of the month, we posted this progress report, with lots of new screenshots: https://steamcommunity.com/games/510540/announcements/detail/3482863004753561575
We are more active on Twitter (https://twitter.com/lgdays) and Tumblr (http://lgdays.tumblr.com/). We update them a couple of times a month.

(+2)

what a neat game! I also have a crush on Branna...her design is great.

(2 edits)

I would say this game is better than the hetallia series and should get it's own anime. Just based on the preview the graphics, animation, and idea centered around military/distopia/dictator/war concepts is a most very recent and evolving events.

Is this game created with RPGMaker, Unity, or Lua?

(1 edit)

Hello! Thank you for creating such an amazing game. I haven't played it yet but I just know I'm gonna love it haha. I just bought it off humble bundle and I have a question... The description says the game is available DRM-free but I assume this is for the full version only? I don't mind playing the early-access stage of the game through steam, but would I have to re-buy the game if I wanted the DRM-free full version of the game?

I just finished playing the demo and what an experience! The inner conflict shown by a deserter was easily seen and empathized with. Simply one of the best dystopian stories I've read and the best I've played as a game to date! I really hope this has at least 10 chapters haha. I wouldn't even mind paying more.

As for issues with the game, there are a few I noticed, but I only started scrutinizing these at Kaliningrad so I may have missed some from the Core etc.:

- Minor issues: Spelling mistakes. The quest page for "The Lost Girl" says that the girl's name is Nina, but according to dialogue, the girl's name is Mila. Next, Ivan's neighbour's mother (lol) says "...He must 'we' waiting..." at her house by the river. When we first meet Leonid, he says "Find 'my' at my place." Lastly, during the final cinematic, the Father General says "Then 'why' are you standing here for?!"

- Medium-Major issues: There are some instances when I choose the correct dialogue and the increased morale symbol shows up above my characters' heads. However, when I checked the values on the menu, the morale percentages remained unchanged. This happened with: Firstly, the talk with Lynn at Ivan's house. Secondly, after the completion of "The Lost Girl" quest, only Adair and Lynn's morale increased (intentional?). Lastly, the quest where I had to get the medicine for the baby in the church.

- Major issue (at least for me): There is no unequip button. There was a jacket I wanted to equip on Rourke, but I accidentally put it on Lynn (don't ask). Lynn had no other alternative armors so all I got was a buzz in response when I pressed on it.

It's nice to see that you guys implemented a sprinting button, but I still think it's a bit slow sorry...

In any case, I just LOVE this game to bits! Congratulations on making it this far, this is my most highly anticipated game this year!

Hi there! Thank you so much for the compliments, that's really nice of you!

We'll be including the fixes to these spelling mistakes/morale bugs in our next update (we are currently working on adding controller support/key remapping, among other things). We definitely want to raise Rourke's base speed and add an actual running animation, so that's on our to-do list.

Once again, thank you so much for taking the time to report these bugs, we hope to have the next update soon!

Hi there! We have a DRM-free version of the current build for our backers, but we highly encourage to get the Steam version since the game is still being developed. We'll add a DRM-free version after the full release.

Since you bought it through Humble Bundle (and the same would apply to everyone who bought it through itchio), we can add the DRM-free version to the package, so you'll be able to get it if you look at your purchases, without any additional cost.

(+1)

Thank you so much for the OSX Version!!!! Congratulations on the release!!! All the best to you and your game!

Ah, that's the OSX version of the old 2016 prototype demo! We are still working on the OSX version of the actual release, sorry for the inconvenience.
